Meet Dr. Jeff Headrick

Jeff Headrick M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He is fellowship trained in adult hip and knee replacement surgery as well as the latest techniques for the young arthritic patient. He also has extensive experience in shoulder, hip, and knee arthroscopy, ACL Reconstruction, and other Sports Medicine techniques.

Dr. Headrick, a native of Sweetwater, Texas, joined The Center for Orthopedic Surgery in Lubbock, Texas after serving twenty years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Ocean Engineering. He was a nuclear engineer officer in the submarine service for five years. After graduation from Texas Tech Medical School, he completed internship at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA and the Phoenix Orthopedic Residency Program in Phoenix, AZ. He served as an orthopedic surgeon with the US Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC and overseas at U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.

Dr. Headrick completed advanced studies in Reconstructive Joint Replacement Surgery as an Otto E. Aufranc Fellow at the highly acclaimed New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. He utilizes the latest technology with regard to surgical technique and implants. He uses the Sigma Rotating Platform as well as fixed bearing total knee arthroplasties and alternative bearing surfaces such as metal on metal total hip arthroplasties. The year long fellowship included state of the art early intervention techniques for arthritis in association with Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, also in Boston, MA. These include Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI, Carticel), osteotomies, and minimally invasive Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty. Prior to arrival in Lubbock, Dr. Headrick was assigned to the Adult Joint Reconstructive Service at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA where he was well known for his high level of competence and compassion for his patients who enjoyed excellent outcomes.
