Orthopedic Center

In addition to the busy Sports Medicine division of the Center, our surgeons continue an active practice in many other areas of orthopaedic care. Total joint replacements of the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle are a major focus for the Center.

Our physicians are performing unicompartmental replacements of the tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joints of the knee on some of our active, middleaged patients. Over the last 35 years, our Center has seen an increase in our active adult population. These patients wish to remain active and are seeking options other than a total knee replacement and a unicompartmental replacement or patellofemoral replacement is the perfect solution to their current knee condition.

A recent poll of our patients who underwent a total joint replacement showed a satisfaction rate of 98%. This is a tribute to the dedication of the physicians and rehabilitation staff at our Center.

In addition to total joint replacements, our physicians are improving the quality of life for our patients through surgical techniques including high tibial osteotomy, autologous chondrocyte implantation and well as revision procedures of the anterior cruciate and posterior cruciate ligament. As part of our continuing education program, our fellows are instructed in all of the advanced orthopaedic technologies currently available. This past year our fellows had the opportunity to learn about computerized navigation systems and their use for high tibial osteotomy and ACL reconstruction. In addition to the instruction they received on computerized navigation systems, our fellows were instructed on unicompartmental knee replacements and autologous chondrocyte implantation.

Patients seeking treatment at our Center for complex knee conditions can have confidence in our staff. These complex knee procedures are performed with the knowledge gained from more than 30 years of experience and research.
