Biography
Dr. Scioli has dedicated his career to excellence in patient care, education, and research. He attended Texas Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Zoology with a Minor in Chemistry in 1978. Dr. Scioli’s passion for medicine led him to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors in 1982.
Following medical school, Dr. Scioli completed his internship in the Department of Internal Medicine at Lubbock General Hospital in Texas. He then pursued residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at R.E. Thomason General Hospital, affiliated with the Texas Tech Regional Academic Health Center in El Paso, from 1983 to 1987. Dr. Scioli continued his education through a fellowship at The Center for Orthopedic Surgery affiliated with the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, under the guidance of Dr. G. James Sammarco, from 1987 to 1988.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Scioli is recognized for his proficiency in orthopedic procedures, with additional certification in Midas Rex Instrumentation Course in 1988. He is an active member of various professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society, and Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Scioli is deeply committed to medical education and has served as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at both Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center at El Paso since 1988. He also held the position of Director of Outpatient Services at the Lubbock Rotary Cerebral Palsy Clinic from 1988 to 1991.
Throughout his career, Dr. Scioli has received numerous honors and awards, underscoring his dedication and achievements. Notable among these are the Gold Headed Cane awarded for overall Outstanding Graduate Class of 1982 at Texas Tech Health Sciences School of Medicine, and the Outstanding Resident Presentation at the Carrie Tingley Orthopedic Seminar in 1986. His academic excellence was recognized early on, receiving the Lange Publications Award for Excellent Performance in Medical School in 1982. With a distinguished career marked by a passion for patient care, education, and scholarly pursuits, Dr. Scioli continues to leave a lasting impact in the field of orthopedic surgery in the Lubbock area.
