Dr. Smitherman is a local orthopedic surgeon known for his dedication to patient care and medical education. His journey in the field of medicine began at Texas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. Dr. Smitherman’s passion for healing and helping others led him to pursue a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston in 1992.
Following medical school, Dr. Smitherman completed his internship and residency training in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, from 1992 to 1997. Dr. Smitherman is actively involved in various professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, and the Lubbock-Garza-Crosby County Medical Association.
